DIY engine driven

Postby CajunTaco on Tue Feb 02, 2010 9:48 pm

Well guys, everyone knows how to source a comp and all the other stuff. But how can you get around the $65 Kilby pulley? Well the answer is zee germans. VW Scirocco to be exact. Now it's not bolt on, but if you have a lathe/mill or a friend with one it can be done cheap. Took me an hour. The inside of the pulley needs to be bored deeper to allow the stud on the alternator to stick through so you can put the nut back on. The ID fit nicelly on my GM alt so I faced that edge off the back, faced the front to look good, and bored that sucker out. Here's what a stock one looks like and mine. I imagine it would work on other alts also. I don't have many pics cause my iphone crashed. Took me about an hour and I didn;t have the right tool.
